The airport after midnight
Heydar Aliyev International Airport lies about 20 km north-east of central Baku. A private car typically requires 25 to 40 minutes in ordinary traffic.
Principal night routes include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah and Istanbul, together with private aviation from Europe and the CIS. The sequence is unchanged at any hour: assistant or handler, immigration off the main queue when VIP is booked, luggage brought forward, unmarked vehicle to the residence.
Requirements to specify in advance
A lounge pass is not equivalent to meet and greet. Private-jet arrivals are met at the handling door. The GYD arrival guide describes the full sequence.
- Child seats
- A second vehicle for staff or luggage
- VIP, VVIP or FBO door
- Close protection or armor after dark, if required
- Villa gate rather than a public hotel entrance
Transfer to the residence
Four Seasons Baku, Hilton at Port Baku, Fairmont Flame Towers, JW Marriott Absheron and Absheron villas are routine drop-offs. Side entrances and gates are used when specified.
On 27 September 2026 (Remembrance Day, not race day) overnight departures follow the same order in reverse. Inbound and outbound should be booked together.
